Peel oranges so that the white skin is completely removed. Then cut the pulp into thin slices. Clean, wash and slice the strawberries. Place the fruit in ovenproof dishes and sprinkle with orange liqueur or syrup.
For the meringue, beat the egg whites with the whisks of the hand mixer until stiff, while pouring in the vanilla sugar. Fold in ground almonds. Pour the meringue mixture onto the fruits and bake briefly under a hot grill or in a preheated oven (electric range: 250°C / gas: level 4-5) until golden brown.
