Baked apple with marzipan-pomegranate filling

Ingredients

  • 1 egg (size M)
  • 1 Pomegranate
  • 100 g Marzipan raw mass
  • 2 large apples
  • 1 TEASPOON Lemon juice
  • 40 g Icing sugar + something to sprinkle on
  • 1 TABLESPOON flaked almonds
  • 7-10 Tbsp Melissa leaves

Directions

    Separate the egg. Cut the pomegranate in half and remove the seeds. Mix marzipan and egg yolk. Mix pomegranate seeds, up to 1 tablespoon, and marzipan mixture. Wash apples, halve them and cut out the core. Drizzle apple halves with lemon juice. Pour marzipan into the apple halves.

    Place on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven (electric cooker: 200 °C/ convection oven: 175 °C/ gas: level 3) for approx. 15 minutes. Beat the egg white until stiff. Let icing sugar trickle in. Spread the beaten egg white over the apple halves and bake in the oven for another 5 minutes until the beaten egg white is lightly browned. Roast the almonds in a pan without fat until golden brown. Remove the apples from the oven, sprinkle with almond flakes and dust with icing sugar. Decorate with flaked lemon balm
