Ingredients

Servings: 9
  • 1/4 l Vinegar
  • 100 g Sugar
  • 6 Matie's fillets
  • 2 red onions
  • 2 Carrots
  • 1 (4 cm) bits of ginger
  • 1 chunk of horseradish
  • 3 TSP Mustard seeds
  • 3 Bay leaves
  • 3 Stem(s) Dill

Directions

  1. 1

Simmer vinegar, 175 ml water and sugar while stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Leave to cool. Rinse matie fillets under cold running water and cut into 3 cm pieces.

  2. 2

Peel onions and cut them into rings. Peel carrots, ginger and horseradish. Thinly slice carrots and horseradish, cut ginger into strips. Put a thin layer of onion rings in a glass vessel (approx. 1 1/2 litre capacity).

  3. 3

Place a layer of matie, carrot and horseradish slices and strips of ginger on each. Sprinkle with mustard seeds and cover with bay leaf and dill tips. Repeat until the ingredients are used up.

  4. 4

Pour the cooled marinade over it, so that everything is completely covered. Close the container well and let it stand in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
