Halve the cantaloup melon and scrape out the seeds. Cut half of the melon with skin into slices. Remove the remaining flesh from the skin and cut into pieces. Wash the watermelon and grate it dry. Cut off a piece on one side so that the melon is stable. Draw out the mouth with a pencil. Cut out the mouth with a sharp knife. Hollow out the lower mouth with a tablespoon, stabilising the upper jaw with one hand. Hollow out the upper half as well to reduce the weight. Cut the flesh into pieces and put aside.
Cut the eyebrows and nostrils from a piece of melon skin. For the brows, notch the skin with a knife. Use a melon ball cutter to hollow out the eyes, always stabilizing the upper jaw with one hand. Use toothpicks to pin up the eyebrows and nostrils
