Ginger beer without alcohol

Ingredients

  • 125–150 g fresh ginger root
  • 1 Organic Lime
  • 1 untreated orange
  • 175–200 g demerara sugar
  • 4 Stem(s) Mint
  • 7-10 Tbsp crushed ice cubes
  • 7-10 Tbsp Mineral water
  • 7-10 Tbsp Gauze cloth

Directions

    Peel the ginger and cut into pieces. Grate finely in the universal chopper. Wash lime and orange thoroughly. Peel the peel with a peeler. Bring 1 litre of water and sugar to the boil, add ginger, bring to the boil and cook for 1 minute. Halve the lime and squeeze the juice

    Put the lime and orange peel in a jug, add lime juice, pour the hot liquid over it and let it cool down at room temperature. Then cover and leave to stand in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours (depending on how hot it is)

    Pour the ginger beer through a very fine sieve or gauze cloth. Wash mint and shake dry. Serve the ginger beer on ice and garnished with a mint stem. Top up with cold mineral water as desired
