Ingredients

Servings: 4
  • 2 large onions
  • 1–2 Garlic cloves
  • 5 discs Bacon
  • 1.2 kg Potatoes
  • 4 Pork neck steaks (approx. 180 g each)
  • 7-10 Tbsp salt and pepper
  • 2-3 TABLESPOONS Oil
  • 7-10 Tbsp Nutmeg
  • 1/4 l Cider (apple wine)

Directions

    Peel onions and cut them into rings. Peel garlic and chop finely. Cut bacon into small cubes. Peel, wash and slice the potatoes.

    Wash the meat and dab dry. Season with salt, pepper and garlic. Heat oil in a large frying pan. Brown the meat on both sides.

    Mix potatoes and onions. Season vigorously with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Layer about 2/3 of the potatoes in an ovenproof pot. Lay the meat slices overlapping on top. Cover with remaining potatoes and sprinkle with bacon.

    Pour cider over it.

    Cover and bake in a preheated oven (electric cooker: 150°C/circulating air: 125°C/gas: level 1) for approx. 3 hours. After approx. 2 hours, remove the lid and bake until done.

    Drinks tip: cool cider (sparkling cider).
