Peel onions and cut them into strips. Fry the ham in hot oil and take it out. Steam onions in frying fat for about 8 minutes. Stir in ham and caraway.
Preheat oven (electric cooker: 225 °C/circulating air: 200 °C/gas: see manufacturer). Line baking tray with baking paper. Cut the dough into 4 strips (10 x 24 cm), pull slightly longer. Place on a baking tray. Mix cream, egg and each 1⁄2 tsp. salt and pepper.
Spread the onion mix over the tongues. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes. Wash the chives, chop finely, sprinkle the flat bread.
