Ingredients

Servings: 50
  • 1 pack of (370 g) Baking mix vanilla crescent
  • 150 g soft butter or margarine
  • 1 egg (size M)
  • 75-100 g flaked almonds
  • 1 egg yolk and 1 teaspoon cream for spreading
  • 40 g whole almonds with and without skin
  • 7-10 Tbsp Flour
  • baking paper

Directions

  1. 1

Put the baking mix into a mixing bowl and spread the fat in small pieces on top. Separate egg, add egg yolk and knead with the dough hooks of the hand mixer for about 3 minutes. Then knead to a smooth dough with your hands on a work surface. Halve the dough and form thin rolls from one half. Place the flaked almonds and egg whites on a flat plate and turn the rolls first in the egg whites, then in the almonds. Press the flaked almonds well and cut the rolls into pieces about 5 cm long. Spread on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven (electric: 200 °C / gas: level 3) for 12-13 minutes. In the meantime roll out the remaining dough thinly on a lightly floured work surface. Cut out stars and fir trees as desired and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Mix egg yolk and cream and brush the stars and Christmas trees with it. Decorate each with a peeled or unpeeled almond and bake at the same temperature for 8-10 minutes. Leave to cool on a cake rack and dust the cookies with decorative sugar. Results in about 25 cookies each
