Ingredients

Servings: 4
  • 3 Onions
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 3 TABLESPOONS Oil
  • 2 packages (500 g each) strained tomatoes
  • 2 Federation Basil
  • 500 g mixed minced meat
  • 1 Egg
  • 3-4 Tbsp Breadcrumbs
  • 7-10 Tbsp Salt
  • 7-10 Tbsp Pepper
  • 16 Cannelloni (large pasta tubes-without precooking-ca. 150 g)
  • 7-10 Tbsp Sweet peppers

Directions

  1. 1

For the sauce, peel and finely chop the onions and garlic. Fry 2/3 of the cubes in hot oil. Add the tomatoes, bring to the boil and let them thicken slightly for 10-12 minutes at medium heat in an open pot.

  2. 2

For the cannelloni, wash the basil and, except for a few leaves for garnishing, cut into fine strips. Mix the minced meat, egg, half of the basil strips, breadcrumbs and the rest of the onion-garlic mixture.

  3. 3

Season to taste with salt and pepper and fill into the cannelloni. Stir the remaining basil strips into the sauce. Season the sauce with salt, pepper and paprika. Put half of it into an ovenproof casserole dish (approx. 30 cm long).

  4. 4

Place the cannelloni on top, pour the rest of the sauce over them and bake in a preheated oven (electric: 175°C/ gas: level 2) for about 40 minutes. Serve garnished with basil leaves.
