Buttermilk waffles with cherry quark

Ingredients

  • 1 glass (370 ml) Cherries
  • 500 g Edible quark (20 % fat in dry matter)
  • 110 g Sugar
  • 1/2 TEASPOON ground aniseed
  • 6 TABLESPOONS Sparkling mineral water
  • 60 g Butter or margarine
  • 250 g Flour
  • 1 package Vanillin sugar
  • 1 1/2 TSP. Baking Powder
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 500 ml Buttermilk
  • 2 Eggs (size M)
  • 7-10 Tbsp Icing sugar
  • 7-10 Tbsp Oil

Directions

    Drain the cherries. Mix quark, 75 g sugar and aniseed, while stirring in the mineral water. Fold in the cherries. Melt the fat in a small saucepan and let it cool down a little.

    Mix flour, 35 g sugar, vanillin sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Whisk buttermilk and eggs. Pour into the flour mixture while stirring and mix to a smooth, thin wafer dough.

    Dust with icing sugar.
