  • 300 g Honey
  • 200 g Sugar
  • 2 TEASPOONS Cinnamon
  • 1 pinch ground cloves and grated nutmeg
  • 150 g chopped almonds
  • 7-10 Tbsp grated rind of 1 untreated lemon
  • 150 g Candied orange peel
  • 2 packages cherry brandy bake
  • 400 g Flour
  • 1 TEASPOON Baking Powder
  • 150 g Icing sugar
  • 4 TABLESPOONS Lemon juice
  • 100 g Almond slivers
  • baking paper

Directions

  1. 1

Heat honey and sugar in a pot while stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Add spices and stir in. Take the pot from the stove, let the honey mass cool down a little and fill it into a mixing bowl. Stir almonds, lemon peel, candied orange peel and cherry brandy into the warm honey mixture. Mix flour and baking powder, add to the honey mixture and work into a smooth dough with the dough hooks of the hand mixer.

  2. 2

Line a baking tray with baking paper and roll out the dough on it. Leave to rest at room temperature for about 2 hours. Bake in the preheated oven (electric cooker: 200 °C/ gas: level 3) for about 20 minutes. In the meantime, mix icing sugar and lemon juice. Take the cake out of the oven and immediately turn it over onto the work surface. Remove baking paper. Place the cake on a large cutting board and immediately spread the surface with the icing sugar icing (keep 2 tablespoons of icing). Allow to dry briefly. Cut off hard edges and cut the still warm cake into pieces of approx. 3 x 5 cm. Roast the almond slivers in a pan without fat until golden brown and let them cool down.

Put a blob of icing sugar on half of the treats, sprinkle with almond slivers and let dry. Results in approx. 60 pieces

Important: The biscuits must be stored for a longer period of time so that they become soft (otherwise you bite your teeth out). If you store them with 1/2 apple, it is faster
