Apple sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 kg Apples (e.g. Gravensteiner or James Grieve)
  • 150 g demerara sugar
  • 3 deleted Tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 coated Tsp Nutmeg

Directions

    Peel, quarter, core and cut apples into small pieces. Boil them in a large pot with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and 400-500 ml water. Simmer covered for about 30 minutes, stirring several times.

    Mash everything with a potato masher into a sauce. Pour hot apple sauce immediately into clean twist-off glasses and close them tightly. Place glasses on the lid for about 5 minutes. Then turn them over again and let them cool down.

    Store apple sauce cool and dark. (3-4 weeks shelf life).
