Put plums on a sieve and drain well. Collect the juice and, if necessary, add water to 1/4 l liquid. Cut plums in half
Stir 5 tablespoons of juice and sauce powder until smooth. Boil up the rest of the juice, wine, cloves, lemon peel and sugar. Stir in the sauce powder and bring to the boil again briefly. Fold in plums, remove lemon peel and let the dessert cool down
Pour the plum compote into glasses and decorate with lemon wedges, shavings and lemon balm if desired. Serve with crispy biscuits with almonds
-If you don't want to use red wine, or if children eat with you: just take plum or cherry juice instead
-You can replace the cloves with 1 bag of mulled wine seasoning. Leave to steep in hot fruit juice for approx. 5 minutes before binding
