Mix rye meal, flour, baking powder and salt. Add buttermilk and knead everything into a smooth dough. Shape into a round loaf and cut into a star shape with a sharp knife approx. 1 cm deep
Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake in the preheated oven (electric cooker: 200 °C/circulating air: 175 °C/gas: level 3) for approx. 50 minutes. Let the bread cool down on a grill. Serve with Irish butter, smoked salmon, cheddar and soft cheese, e.g. Maighean (see right)
