Peel and finely chop the onion. Peel and quarter apples, remove core. Cut quarter into small pieces. Heat oil in a pot. Sauté onion for about 2 minutes.
Add apples, sugar and cloves and deglaze with red wine. Cover and simmer for about 10 minutes. When the apples are soft, add the cranberries, bring to the boil again and season to taste with sugar if necessary. Let the applesauce cool down. Tastes good with strong meat
