Ingredients

  • 1.5 kg Potatoes
  • 3 (approx. 180 g) Tomatoes
  • 1 Onion
  • 1/2 bunch Thyme
  • 3 Stem(s) Basil
  • 2 discs Bacon
  • 1 TABLESPOON Oil
  • 350 g Pork sausage
  • 7-10 Tbsp Salt
  • 7-10 Tbsp Pepper
  • 30 g Butter
  • 30 g Flour
  • 125 ml Milk
  • 200 g Whipped cream
  • 30 g Gouda cheese

Directions

    Wash the potatoes and cook covered in salted water for 15-20 minutes. Then drain, rinse, peel and leave to rest for a while. Wash, clean, quarter and seed the tomatoes. Cut the flesh into small cubes. Peel and chop onion. Wash the herbs, shake dry and, except for something to garnish, pluck the leaves from the stems and chop them.

    Halve bacon slices and leave them in a pan without fat. Remove and place on kitchen paper. Add oil to the pan. Fry the onion and minced pork in the oil over a high heat for approx. 5 minutes, turning over. Season with salt and pepper. Fold in herbs and tomato cubes. Melt butter. Sauté the flour in it. Add milk and cream while stirring constantly and bring to the boil. Season with salt and pepper. Grate cheese and stir into the sauce. Cut potatoes into slices.

Layer potato slices, ground pork, bacon and sauce alternately in a high casserole dish. Bake in the preheated oven (electric cooker: 175 °C/ convection oven: 150 °C/ gas: level 2) for 30-40 minutes.
