Norman potato pot with cider

Ingredients

Servings: 4
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 Garlic clove
  • 50 g streaky smoked bacon
  • 1.2 kg Potatoes
  • 4 Pork neck steaks (approx. 180 g each)
  • 2 TABLESPOONS Oil
  • 7-10 Tbsp salt, pepper, nutmeg
  • 1/4 l Cider (cider)

Directions

    Peel onions and garlic. Cut onions into thin rings. Chop the garlic. Dice bacon finely. Peel and wash the potatoes and slice or slice them thinly.

    Wash the meat and dab dry. Heat the oil in a large pan. Brown the meat on each side. Fry the garlic briefly. Season with salt and pepper. Preheat the oven (electric cooker: 150 °C/circulating air: 125 °C/gas: see

    Mix potatoes and onions. Season vigorously with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Approx. 2⁄3 of the potato mixture into an ovenproof pot with lid. Place the neck steaks on top with a slight overlap. Spread the remaining potatoes on top.

    Sprinkle with bacon and pour cider over it.

    Put the lid on the pot and bake in the hot oven for about 3 hours. After about 2 hours remove the lid and bake open to the end.
