Halve the baguette lengthwise, then cut into thin slices. Heat 4 tablespoons of oil in a large pan with a high rim. Fry the baguette in it in 2-3 portions while turning until crispy.
In the meantime cut the sausages into slices. Take out the baguette. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in the pan. Fry the sausage slices for about 10 minutes, turning them from time to time.
Wash the tomatoes and cut into quarters. Peel onions and garlic. Cut onions into large cubes and garlic into slices. Put the onions and garlic in the pan and fry briefly. Add the tomatoes and fry for 5-6 minutes.
Drizzle with vinegar, bring to the boil briefly.
Wash the basil, shake dry, pluck the leaves and cut into strips. Season the tomato pan with salt, pepper and sugar. Fold in baguette and basil.
