Ingredients

Servings: 8
  • 4 Spring onions
  • 100 g Cheddar (piece)
  • 80 g Walnut kernels
  • 170 ml cold
  • 7-10 Tbsp Buttermilk
  • 2 Eggs (Gr. M)
  • 500 g Flour
  • 1 package Baking Powder
  • 1 TEASPOON Baking soda
  • 1 TEASPOON Salt
  • 250 g + 100 g cold butter
  • 16 discs Black Forest ham
  • 7-10 Tbsp Flour
  • baking paper

Directions

  1. 1

Preheat oven (electric cooker: 200 °C/circulating air: 180 °C/gas: see manufacturer). Line baking tray with baking paper. Clean and wash spring onions and cut into small rolls. Grate cheese. Coarsely chop the walnuts.

  2. 2

Mix cheese and nuts together with the other ingredients (except ham and 100 g butter) to a coarse crumbly dough. Stir in spring onions briefly.

  3. 3

Dough is a little dry? Everything done right! Put the dough on a lightly floured work surface and form a round 2-3 cm high circle with floured hands. Place the scone on the baking tray and mark with a knife approx. 8 pieces of cake approx. 1 cm deep (do not cut through completely).

  4. 4

Bake in a hot oven for about 25 minutes until golden brown. Cool on a cake rack for about 10 minutes. Serve with ham and remaining butter.
