Ingredients

  • 300 g streaky smoked bacon
  • 3 medium-sized onions
  • 1 (approx. 2 kg) White cabbage
  • 1-2 TABLESPOONS clarified butter
  • 7-10 Tbsp Sugar
  • 7-10 Tbsp Salt
  • 7-10 Tbsp Pepper
  • 1 TABLESPOON Caraway seeds
  • 1 TEASPOON Broth

Directions

    Finely dice the bacon. Peel and chop the onions. Clean, wash and quarter cabbage and cut out the stalk. Cut cabbage into leaves.

    Heat clarified butter in a large casserole. Fry bacon in it until crispy. Sprinkle with 1 1⁄2 tbsp. sugar. Add onions and cabbage, fry while turning. Season with salt, pepper and possibly caraway.

    Good 1⁄4 l Pour on water, add stock and bring to the boil. Covered cabbage and stew for 35-40 minutes. Stir more often. Season again and serve.
