Wash apples thoroughly, peel, quarter and cut out the core. Cut quarter into large pieces. Wash the lemon thoroughly, peel the peel thinly with a peeler as a spiral. Halve the lemon and carefully squeeze out the juice. Place 450 ml apple juice, sugar, lemon peel and juice in a pot, bring to the boil and add apples, cinnamon and star aniseed.
Bring to the boil again, simmer over medium heat for 4-6 minutes (apples should not fall apart completely). In the meantime, stir sauce powder and remaining juice in a small bowl until smooth. Stir into the apple mixture, bring to the boil again and simmer for about 1 minute. Remove from the heat, pour into a bowl and allow to cool. Serve garnished with a slice of apple as desired
