Swedish pea stew

Ingredients

Servings: 4
  • 250 g dried yellow peas
  • 2 Onions
  • 500 g Ham bones
  • 1 TEASPOON dried marjoram and thyme
  • 7-10 Tbsp white pepper
  • 2 Carrots
  • 150 g Celery Tuber
  • 1 small leek straw
  • 400 g Pork shoulder
  • 7-10 Tbsp Salt
  • 7-10 Tbsp fresh marjoram, thyme and parsley

Directions

    Wash the peas and soak them overnight in about 1 1/2 litres of water. Peel and finely dice onions. Wash ham bones. Add both to the peas. Season with dried herbs and pepper.

    Cook in soaking water for approx. 2 1/2 hours. In the meantime clean and wash the vegetables. Peel carrots and celery and cut into small pieces. Cut leek into fine rings. Add pork shoulder and vegetables after about 1 hour of cooking time.

    Remove ham bones and meat just before serving. Cut the meat into cubes and put it back into the soup. Season soup with salt and pepper. Wash, chop and sprinkle with fresh herbs.
