Steak sandwich with roasted onions

Ingredients

Servings: 4
  • 400 g Onions
  • 500 ml + 2 tablespoons sunflower oil
  • 100 g Flour
  • 2 TABLESPOONS Sweet peppers
  • 4 Rump steaks (approx. 180 g each)
  • 7-10 Tbsp Salt
  • 7-10 Tbsp Pepper
  • 1 small head of oak leaf salad
  • 2 stem(s) Marjoram
  • 4 pieces of baguette bread (approx. 150 g each)
  • 100 g Herb Butter
  • 7-10 Tbsp Aluminium foil

Directions

    Peel onions and cut them into fine rings. Heat 500 ml oil in a large pot to 160°C. Mix flour and paprika. Turn onion rings in it, shake off and bake in hot oil while stirring until golden brown.

    Take it out and let it drip off on kitchen paper.

    Dab meat dry. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a frying pan. Fry 2 steaks on each side over a high heat for 3-4 minutes. Remove, season well with salt and pepper, wrap in aluminium foil and let rest for 8-10 minutes.

    Fry the rest of the steaks in 1 tablespoon of oil and let them rest.

    In the meantime clean and wash the salad and drain well. Wash the marjoram, shake dry and pluck the leaves from the stalks. Cut bread in half horizontally and spread with herb butter. Place one lower half on each plate and cover with a little lettuce, use the remaining lettuce for other purposes.

    Add the meat, garnish with fried onions and marjoram and place the top half of the bread on top.
