Potato cake with mountain cheese

This is the best potato garnish in a long time! It is prepared with simple ingredients and still really aromatic! With salad and dip it also makes a great main course.

Ingredients

  • 2 Onions
  • 1 branch/s Rosemary
  • 1 kg Potatoes
  • 3 TABLESPOONS clarified butter
  • 7-10 Tbsp Salt
  • 7-10 Tbsp Pepper
  • 75 g Mountain cheese
  • baking paper

Directions

    Peel onions and cut them into fine strips. Wash the rosemary, shake dry and chop the needles roughly. Peel and wash the potatoes and slice them into thin slices. Mix with rosemary and onions.

    Preheat oven (electric cooker: 200 °C/circulating air: 180 °C/gas: see manufacturer). Heat the clarified butter in portions in a large ovenproof pan. Brown the potato mix for about 8 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Grate cheese.

    Layer the potato mix in the pan, sprinkle with cheese and press on. Bake in the hot oven on the second rack from below for about 30 minutes. Remove from the oven. Carefully turn out the potato cake onto a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake another 20 minutes until golden brown.
