Orange cake with quark and sour cream (Christmas decoration)

Ingredients

  • 150 g soft butter or margarine
  • 300 g Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 3 Eggs (size M)
  • 225 g Flour
  • 2 coated Tsp Baking Powder
  • 350 g Whipped cream
  • 10 sheets Gelatine
  • 500 g Low-fat curd
  • 250 g Schmand
  • 150 ml Orange juice
  • 3 untreated oranges
  • 100 g Marzipan
  • 1 TABLESPOON Icing sugar
  • 7-10 Tbsp green food coloring
  • 150 g Orange marmalade
  • 7-10 Tbsp Grease
  • 7-10 Tbsp Icing sugar

Directions

    For the dough, mix fat, 200 g sugar and salt until creamy. Stir in the eggs one after the other. Mix flour and baking powder, alternately stir in 100 g cream. Grease a springform pan (26 cm Ø), fill in the dough and smooth it down. Bake in the preheated oven (electric cooker: 200 °C/ convection oven: 175 °C/ gas: level 3) for 25-35 minutes (stick test). Let cool on a cake rack. Remove the base from the pan, cut in half horizontally once. Place a cake ring around the lower cake base.

    Soak the gelatine in cold water. Stir curd, sour cream, 100 g sugar and orange juice until smooth. Squeeze the gelatine, dissolve carefully. Stir a little cream into the gelatine, then stir everything into the rest of the cream. Beat 250 g cream until stiff, fold into the cream. Pour approx. 2/3 of the cream onto the lower base and smooth it down. Place the upper cake layer on top. Spread the rest of the cream on top. Chill for at least 3 hours. Wash the oranges and grate them dry. Peel oranges so that the white skin is completely removed. Put the peel aside. Cut oranges into thin slices. Knead marzipan with icing sugar and food colouring. Roll out on a work surface dusted with icing sugar.

    Spread the rest of the cream on top. Chill for at least 3 hours. Wash the oranges and grate them dry. Peel oranges so that the white skin is completely removed. Put the peel aside. Cut oranges into thin slices. Knead marzipan with icing sugar and food colouring. Roll out on a work surface dusted with icing sugar. Cut out stars from marzipan and orange peel. Warm up the orange marmalade and stir until smooth. Remove the cake from the ring and place on a cake plate. Coat the edge of the cake with a piece of the jam. Place orange slices on the edge of the cake. Decorate the cake with remaining orange slices, marzipan and orange stars. Spread the orange slices with the rest of the marmalade

    Cut out stars from marzipan and orange peel. Warm up the orange marmalade and stir until smooth. Remove the cake from the ring and place on a cake plate. Coat the edge of the cake with a piece of the jam. Place orange slices on the edge of the cake. Decorate the cake with remaining orange slices, marzipan and orange stars. Spread the orange slices with the rest of the marmalade
