  • 2 TEASPOONS Gingerbread spice
  • 1 heaped Tsp baking powder
  • 7-10 Tbsp Fat and flour
  • 500 g Icing sugar
  • 1⁄4 Sheet red gelatine
  • 7-10 Tbsp Sweets and whole almonds
  • 7-10 Tbsp for ornament
  • 7-10 Tbsp stable cardboard
  • 7-10 Tbsp Freezer bag

Directions

  1. 1

For the dough, heat honey, 100 g sugar and 2 tbsp water while stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Let cool for 10-15 minutes.

  2. 2

Separate two eggs. Mix 1 egg, 2 egg yolks and 2 tbsp. sugar with the whisks of the hand mixer until creamy. Stir in honey mixture. Mix flour, cocoa, spices and baking powder and sieve onto the honey mixture.

  3. 3

First knead with the dough hooks of the hand mixer, then with floured hands to a smooth dough. Cover and chill for about 30 minutes.

  4. 4

Cut templates from cardboard for the house (see building plan on the right).

  5. 5

Preheat the oven (electric cooker: 175 °C/circulating air: 150 °C/gas: level 2). Grease a baking tray (approx. 35 x 40 cm) and dust with flour. Roll out the dough on it. Bake in a hot oven for 15-20 minutes.

  6. 6

Take out the gingerbread. Using the templates, mark all parts of the house 2 times and the chimney 4 times, then cut it out. Cut out 1 window and 1 door from one gable side. Remove from the tray and let it cool down.

  7. 7

For the icing, beat 2 egg whites until stiff, while pouring in the icing sugar. Pour into a freezer bag and cut off a small corner. With a little bit of icing, stick the gelatine behind the window cutout.

  8. 8

Cut a house floor (approx. 15 x 15 cm) from cardboard. Glue the house and gable sides together with cast iron on the floor. Glue together the chimney as well. Leave to dry for about 30 minutes. Then glue the door and fix the roof tiles on the house.

  9. 9

Glue the chimney on the gable. Leave to dry for at least 1 hour.

  10. 10

Stick the sweets and almonds with icing. Spray the rest of the icing as an icicle. Let dry well.
