New Year's Eve cake with lucky charm

Ingredients

  • 180 g Butter or margarine
  • 250 g demerara sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 2 packages Vanillin sugar
  • 7-10 Tbsp grated peel of 1 untreated orange
  • 4 Eggs (size M)
  • 25 g Cornstarch
  • 25 g ground almonds (without skin)
  • 1 TEASPOON Baking Powder
  • 175 g Flour
  • 7 TABLESPOONS Orange juice
  • 2 TABLESPOONS Almond liqueur
  • 2 TABLESPOONS Icing sugar
  • 7-10 Tbsp Orange peel spiral, orange slices and lemon balm
  • 7-10 Tbsp Grease

Directions

    Cream fat, sugar, salt, vanillin sugar and orange peel with the whisk of the hand mixer. Add the eggs one by one and stir in. Mix starch, almonds, baking powder and flour. Alternately stir in 2 tablespoons of orange juice and liqueur. Fill the dough into a greased springform pan (26 cm Ø), smooth it down. Bake in a preheated oven (electric: 175 °C/ gas: level 2) for 30-40 minutes.

    Take the cake out of the oven, place on a grid, remove from the edge of the springform pan, sprinkle immediately with remaining orange juice and let it cool down in the pan. Cut out good luck charms (e.g. chimney sweeps) from cardboard as desired. Cover the cake with them and dust with icing sugar. Carefully lift the template down. Serve on a cake platter, decorated as desired with orange peel spiral, orange slices and lemon balm
