Minced steaks in Metaxa cream (minced steaks special)

Ingredients

Servings: 4
  • 3 Onions
  • 1 Garlic clove
  • 3 TABLESPOONS Oil
  • 200 g Long grain rice
  • 3/4 l Tomato juice
  • 3/4 l Vegetable broth (instant)
  • 7-10 Tbsp Salt
  • 7-10 Tbsp Pepper
  • 7-10 Tbsp Sugar
  • 500 g mixed minced meat
  • 1 egg (size M)
  • 1-2 TABLESPOONS Gyros spice
  • 1 TABLESPOON Butter
  • 200 g Whipped cream
  • 4 TABLESPOONS Greek brandy (e.g. Metaxa)
  • 1-2 TABLESPOONS dark sauce thickener
  • 50 g grated gouda cheese
  • 4 stalks of chives

Directions

    Peel onions and garlic. Finely dice 1 onion and garlic. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pot. Fry onion, garlic and rice in it. Add tomato juice and 1/2 litre stock and cook for about 30 minutes until the rice has absorbed all liquid.

    Stir now and then. Season with a little salt, pepper and sugar. Dice 1 onion. Knead minced onion, onion and egg. Season with gyros spice and salt. Form 4 oval steaks from the mixture. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan.

    Fry the steaks in it for about 3 minutes on each side. Peel 1 onion. Heat butter in a pan. Fry the onion in it. Add cream, 1/4 litre stock and brandy, bring to the boil. Bind with sauce thickener.

    Put the steaks in an ovenproof pan and pour the sauce over them. Sprinkle cheese on top. Bake under the preheated grill until the cheese is lightly browned. Wash the chives, dab dry and cut into small rolls.

    Take the steaks out of the oven and sprinkle chives over them. Add the tomato rice.
