Peel onion and cut into rings. Wash the thyme, dab dry and pluck the leaves from the stems. Peel garlic and chop finely. Wash the lamb and dab dry with kitchen paper.
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a frying pan and fry the meat on all sides. Then place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven (electric range: 200 °C/ gas: level 3) for 10-12 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper. In the meantime, heat the remaining oil in a small pan, sauté the onion and garlic in it, add thyme, sprinkle with sugar and let it caramelize slightly at medium heat.
Deglaze with tomato juice. Stir in tomato paste. Add the beans, bring to the boil and braise at medium heat for 2-3 minutes. Then season to taste with salt and pepper. Cut the meat open.
Serve the lamb and vegetables on a plate and garnish with marjoram and thyme as desired. Bread tastes good with it.
