Gyros \"special\" with paprika

Ingredients

Servings: 4
  • 2 red peppers (about 500 g)
  • 150 g small mushrooms
  • 2 TABLESPOONS Oil
  • 600-750 g Pork shredded "Gyros style"
  • 2-3 TABLESPOONS Brandy (e.g. Greek Metaxa)
  • 2 TABLESPOONS Tomato paste
  • 2 TABLESPOONS Sour cream or crème fraîche
  • 100 g shredded cheese
  • 7-10 Tbsp fresh herbs

Directions

    Clean, wash and chop the peppers. Clean and wash the mushrooms. Halve or quarter depending on size

    Heat the oil in a wide frying pan. Sauté the peppers and mushrooms in it for about 3 minutes, remove. Sauté the meat in portions in the frying fat for 5-6 minutes. Put all the meat, paprika and mushrooms back into the pan. Stir in brandy and tomato paste, bring everything to the boil. Stir in sour cream

    Pour the gyros into a casserole dish. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake in a hot oven (electric cooker: 200 °C/circulating air: 175 °C/gas: level 3) for about 10 minutes. Garnish with herbs. Serve with flatbread or roast potatoes
