Green beans in a bacon coat

In summer and autumn, when green beans are in season, beans in a bacon coat are a tasty side dish that tastes great with Sunday dinner. That's how it's done!

Ingredients

Servings: 4
  • 800 g fresh green beans (e.g. princess beans)
  • 7-10 Tbsp Salt
  • 8 discs Bacon/breakfast bacon
  • 7-10 Tbsp dried savory
  • 7-10 Tbsp Pepper
  • 2 TABLESPOONS Sunflower oil

Directions

    Clean and wash the beans. Cut off the tips. Bring salted water to the boil and cook the beans in it for about 6-8 minutes until slightly firm to the bite. Then rinse directly in cold water. Remove from the water and drain

    Lay out the bacon on a work surface, season with freshly ground pepper and savory. Then divide the beans into 8 portions of equal size, bundle each and wrap a slice of bacon tightly around them.

    Heat the fat in a frying pan and fry the beans in the bacon coat for about 5 minutes until crispy all around. Best served directly or kept warm in the oven in a fireproof dish at 50 °C.
