Figs in port wine sauce with cantuccini

Ingredients

  • 3 TABLESPOONS demerara sugar
  • 250 ml Cherry nectar
  • 100 ml Port wine
  • 8 (approx. 400 g) Figs
  • 40 g Cantuccini (Italian almond pastry)

Directions

    Melt the sugar in a frying pan and caramelise until light brown. Add cherry juice and dissolve sugar. Boil down to about 1/4 of the liquid like a syrup. Add port wine and stir until smooth.

    Wash the figs, quarter them and turn them in the sauce. Serve in dessert bowls. Crumble the cantuccini and sprinkle over the figs.
