Crispy waffles with hot cherries

Ingredients

Servings: 8
  • 2 Glasses (720 ml each) Cherries
  • 7-10 Tbsp 1 p. custard powder vanilla (for cooking; for ½ l milk)
  • 2 packages Vanillin sugar
  • 2-3 TABLESPOONS + 100 g sugar
  • 250 g soft butter
  • 7-10 Tbsp Salt
  • 2 Eggs (Gr. M)
  • 300 g Flour
  • 2 coated Tsp Baking Powder
  • 1⁄8 l Milk
  • 150 g Grümmelkandis (crushed candy)
  • 7-10 Tbsp Oil
  • 2 TABLESPOONS Icing sugar

Directions

    Drain the cherries and collect the juice. Stir pudding powder, 1 sachet vanilla sugar and 6 tbsp. water until smooth. Bring juice and 2-3 tbsp. sugar to the boil. Stir in pudding powder and simmer for about 1 minute.

    Fold in the cherries, set aside.

    Cream 250 g butter, 100 g sugar, 1 packet vanilla sugar and 1 pinch of salt. Stir in the eggs one by one. Mix flour and baking powder. Alternately stir in the milk. Fold in candy.

    Preheat the waffle iron and brush with a little oil. Bake 8-10 waffles one after the other (depending on the size of the appliance). If necessary, heat the cherries again. Dust the waffles with icing sugar and serve with cherries.

    Add whipped cream as desired.
