Cinnamon date corners

Ingredients

  • 250 g flour, 1 msp. baking powder
  • 100 g sugar, 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 knife tip ground pimento
  • 7-10 Tbsp off. peel v. 1 unbeh. orange
  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk (size M)
  • 150 g cold butter
  • 200 g soft dried dates (without stone)
  • 40 g crushed hazelnuts
  • 1/2 TEASPOON cinnamon, 1 tsp milk
  • 7-10 Tbsp Icing sugar
  • cling film, baking paper

Directions

    Flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, pimento, orange peel,

    Knead 1 egg and butter in pieces, first with the hand mixer and then briefly with your hands until smooth. Cover and chill for approx. 1 hour

    Chop dates finely (very soft not so fine; they become mushy). Mix with nuts and cinnamon. Roll out the dough on a little flour to 2 rectangles (each approx. 12 x 40 cm). Sprinkle the date mixture on top, leaving about 2 cm free all around. Roll up from the long side. Wrap the rolls in foil. Chill for about 1 hour.

    Cut into 15 diagonal pieces. Put upright on a baking tray covered with baking paper

    Whisk 1 egg yolk and milk. Spread the biscuits with it. Bake in a hot oven (electric cooker: 175 °C/ convection oven: 150 °C/gas: level 2) for approx. 20 minutes. Cool down. Dust with icing sugar
