Peel, wash and slice the potatoes. Tomatoes wash, clean and also cut into slices. Wash the basil and pluck the leaves from the stalks. Layer potatoes, tomatoes and basil in an ovenproof dish.
Sprinkle each layer with salt, pepper, grated cheese and breadcrumbs. Drizzle with olive oil and add 75 ml water. Cook in the preheated oven (electric cooker: 175 °C/ gas: level 2) for about 1 1/4 hours. Serve garnished with fresh basil
