Baked apples with meringue

Ingredients

  • 3 Eggs (Gr. M)
  • 200 g Marzipan raw mass
  • 2 TABLESPOONS Orange liqueur
  • 6 small sour apples
  • 7-10 Tbsp Grease
  • 125 g red jelly
  • 175 g sugar, 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2-3 TABLESPOONS flaked almonds
  • 7-10 Tbsp Icing sugar

Directions

    Separate eggs. Refrigerate the egg whites. Coarsely grate marzipan, stir with egg yolk and liqueur until creamy. Wash, halve and core apples

    Grease 4 ovenproof moulds, large mould or fat pan. Put apples in. Fill 1 teaspoon each of jelly and marzipan into the apples. Bake in a hot oven (electric cooker: 200 °C/circulating air: 175 °C/gas: level 3) for approx. 15 minutes

    Beat the egg white until stiff, add sugar and lemon juice. Pour onto the apples. Sprinkle with almonds and bake at the same temperature for 15-20 minutes. Dust with icing sugar. Serve with vanilla sauce
