Ingredients

Servings: 10
  • 1 glass (720 ml) Cherries
  • 2 packages Vanillin sugar
  • 7-10 Tbsp Juice of 1 orange
  • 1 TABLESPOON Cornstarch
  • 1 can(s) (850 ml) Apricots
  • 125 g soft butter or margarine
  • 50 g Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 3 Eggs (size M)
  • 250 g Flour
  • 60 g ground poppy seed
  • 1/2 package Baking Powder
  • 125 g Schmand
  • 125 g Whipped cream
  • 7-10 Tbsp Orange slices
  • 7-10 Tbsp Grease

Directions

  1. 1

Drain the cherries and collect the juice. Boil up 1 sachet of vanilla sugar, cherry and orange juice. In the meantime, stir the starch with a little water until smooth. Bind the juice with the starch and bring to the boil again.

  2. 2

Fold in the cherries. Chill the compote. Drain apricots, halve and fold in just before serving. Meanwhile, for the waffle dough, mix the fat, sugar, 1 packet of vanillin sugar and salt with the whisks of the hand mixer until creamy.

  3. 3

Stir in the eggs one by one. Mix flour, poppy seeds and baking powder. Alternately stir in sour cream and whipped cream. Grease and preheat waffle iron. Put 1 1/2 tablespoon of dough in the middle of each waffle iron and bake until golden brown.

  4. 4

Bake about 10 waffles one after the other. Divide the waffles into the individual heart segments. Arrange the waffle hearts and compote on plates. Decorate with orange slices.
