Ingredients

  • 1 kg cleaned kale
  • 2 Onions
  • 20 g Lard
  • 1/8 l Vegetable broth (instant)
  • 600 g Potatoes
  • 7-10 Tbsp Salt
  • 40 g Butter or margarine
  • 20 g Flour
  • 1/2 l Milk
  • 2 TABLESPOONS grainy mustard
  • 7-10 Tbsp Pepper
  • 100 g cooked ham
  • 7-10 Tbsp grated nutmeg
  • 1 TABLESPOON Oil

Directions

    Wash and blanch the kale thoroughly. Peel and finely dice 1 onion. Heat the lard in a pot, fry the onions and kale. Add the stock and cook for about 30 minutes. Peel and wash the potatoes and cook in boiling salted water for about 20 minutes.

    Melt 20 g fat. Sauté flour in it, deglaze with 1/4 litre milk and simmer for about 5 minutes. Stir in mustard, season with salt and pepper. Cut ham into thick strips. Add sauce and ham to the kale, fold in and fill into an ovenproof dish. Drain the potatoes, add 1/4 litre of milk and mash into mashed potatoes. Season to taste with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Add mashed potatoes to the kale. Spread 20 g fat in flakes on top. Bake in the preheated oven (electric cooker: 200 °C/ convection oven: 175 °C/ gas: level 3) for about 10 minutes.
