Ribeye steak with cola sauce

Ingredients

  • 1–2 Garlic cloves
  • 5 TABLESPOONS soft butter
  • 7-10 Tbsp salt, freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 (approx. 250 g) Baguette
  • 2 red onions
  • 1 red chilli pepper
  • 8 Stem(s) Thyme
  • 4 Rib eye steaks (approx. 250-300 g each)
  • 3 TABLESPOONS Oil
  • 50 g demerara sugar
  • 300 ml Coke
  • 7-10 Tbsp a few squirts of lemon juice

Directions

    Peel garlic and chop finely. Mix butter, garlic, salt and pepper. Halve baguette lengthwise and cut into 4 pieces. Brush the cut surfaces with garlic butter. Place the baguette on one half of a baking tray.

    Onions peel and very finely dice. Clean the chilli, cut lengthwise, remove seeds, wash and cut into rings. Wash thyme, shake dry and remove leaves from the stalks. Preheat the oven (electric cooker: 175 °C/circulating air: 150 °C/gas: see

    Pat the steaks dry. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a large frying pan. Fry 2 steaks on each side over high heat for about 2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Place on the free side of the baking tray.

    Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in the frying fat. Fry the rest of the steaks in the same way, season and place on the baking tray. Fry steaks and baguette in a hot oven for 6-7 minutes (medium).

    Sauté onions, chilli and thyme in hot frying fat while turning. Sprinkle with sugar and lightly caramelise. Deglaze with cola, bring to the boil and braise over high heat for approx. 5 minutes.

    Season to taste with salt, pepper and lemon juice. Arrange everything.
