Ingredients

Servings: 8
  • 1 kg Quinces
  • 1 kg Sugar
  • 75 ml Lemon juice

Directions

  1. 1

Wash quinces hot, rub the furry surface. Quinces with skin and core should be cut lengthwise into quarters and cut into 1/2 cm wide slices. Bring the quinces, 1 l cold water and sugar to the boil at low heat.

  2. 2

Then simmer over a mild heat for about 45 minutes, but do not let it boil.

  3. 3

Add lemon juice and cook the mixture for 5 minutes until it is bubbling. Pour it carefully through a very fine sieve. Pour the boiling hot syrup into sterile glass bottles and close them immediately.

  4. 4

The syrup keeps in the refrigerator for 2-3 months.

  5. 5

TIP -> Clean makes durable!! In order to prevent fruit and vegetables from going mouldy, the preserving jars (bottles) should be cleaned and rinsed thoroughly. Afterwards, the jars (bottles) and lids are placed in a pot of boiling water or on a grid in the preheated oven at 100 degrees (gas: 1; convection oven: 100 degrees) for sterilisation.

  6. 6

    There they remain until bottling.
