Ingredients

Servings: 4
  • 3 Bread roll (50 g each)
  • 4 Apples (about 200 g each)
  • 2 TABLESPOONS Lemon juice
  • 5 Eggs (size M)
  • 750 ml low-fat milk
  • 150 g Sugar
  • 50 g Raisins
  • 25 g sliced almonds
  • 7-10 Tbsp Icing sugar
  • 7-10 Tbsp Grease
  • 7-10 Tbsp Aluminium foil

    Cut the bread roll into slices. Wash apples, quarter them, remove seeds and cut into slices. Sprinkle apples immediately with lemon juice. Whisk eggs, milk and sugar. Layer the rolls and apples alternately in a greased casserole dish (approx. 1 litre capacity), pour the egg milk over them and bake in a preheated oven (electric range: 175 °C/ convection oven: 150 °C/ gas: level 2) for 40-60 minutes until the egg milk has set.

    If necessary, cover the pyre with aluminium foil after 30 minutes. Wash the raisins and dab dry. About 5 minutes before the end of the baking time, sprinkle the pyre with raisins and almonds. Remove the pyre and dust with icing sugar
