Ingredients

  • 1 kg Apples
  • 7-10 Tbsp Juice of 1 lemon
  • 100 ml clear apple juice
  • 175 g + 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 400 g White bread
  • 50 g Butter
  • 1 TEASPOON Cinnamon
  • 3 Eggs (size M)
  • 1 package Vanillin sugar
  • 125 ml Milk
  • 100 g Whipped cream
  • 25 g Almond slivers
  • 7-10 Tbsp Grease

Directions

    Wash, peel, quarter and cut apples into pieces. Boil up lemon juice, apple juice and 75 g sugar. Add apple pieces and simmer at low heat for about 3 minutes. Remove from the stove. Cut bread into strips. Heat 25 g butter in a large pan and fry the bread strips in it until golden brown. In the meantime, mix 50 g sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over the bread halfway through the frying time.

    In the meantime, whisk eggs, vanillin sugar, 50 g sugar, milk and cream. Place the fried bread in a greased ovenproof casserole dish, pour egg milk over it and spread apples evenly on top. Bake in the preheated oven (electric cooker: 175 °C/ convection oven: 150 °C/ gas: level 2) for approx. 45 minutes. 10 minutes before the end of the baking time, spread 25 g butter in flakes on the casserole. In the meantime, roast almond slivers in a pan without fat until golden brown. Remove from the pan and set aside. Sprinkle the casserole with almond slivers and 1 tablespoon of sugar
