Ingredients

  • 400 g Butter or margarine
  • 250 g Sugar
  • 7-10 Tbsp Salt
  • 8 Eggs (size M)
  • 125 g Plum jam
  • 400 g Flour
  • 25 g Cocoa powder
  • 4 TSP Baking Powder
  • 150 g Marzipan raw mass
  • 2 TABLESPOONS Milk
  • 7-10 Tbsp Fat and flour
  • 7-10 Tbsp Icing sugar
  • 7-10 Tbsp Aluminium foil

Directions

    Cream 200 g fat, 150 g sugar and 1 pinch of salt with the whisk of the hand mixer. Stir in 4 eggs one after the other. Stir in plum puree. Mix 200 g flour, cocoa and 2 tsp. baking powder and stir in briefly.

    Put the dough into a greased, flour-sprinkled box cake tin (11 x 25 cm; 1.25 litres capacity) and smooth it down. In a preheated oven (electric cooker: 175 °C/ convection oven: 150 °C/ gas: see

    manufacturer) bake for about 50 minutes. If necessary, cover the cake with aluminium foil towards the end of the baking time and finish baking. Take out and let it cool down on a cake rack for about 15 minutes. Carefully turn out of the tin and let it cool down.

    Roughly grate the marzipan. Cream 200 g fat, 100 g sugar, 1 pinch of salt and marzipan. Stir in 4 eggs one after the other. Mix 200 g flour and 2 tsp. baking powder and stir in alternately with the milk.

    Cut the chocolate cake into approx. 1.5 cm thick slices. Cut out stars (approx. 5 cm Ø) from the slices. Do not use end slices, cut out 2 stars from the middle slices.

    Grease the cleaned box cake tin again and dust with flour. Fill in a layer of dough (approx. 1.5 cm) and smooth it down. Place stars one after the other, close together, in the middle of the dough.

    Pour the dough into the mould to the right and left of the stars and cover with the remaining dough.

    Bake in the preheated oven (electric cooker: 175 °C/ convection oven: 150 °C/ gas: see manufacturer) for approx. 50 minutes. If necessary, cover the cake with aluminium foil towards the end of the baking time and finish baking. Remove and let cool on a cake rack.

    Carefully turn out of the mould, place on a plate and dust with icing sugar.
