  • 300 g Matjes in oil
  • 4 vinegar essence
  • 300 ml. Water
  • 3 Essl. sugar
  • 1 Essl. juniper berries
  • 1 Essl. mustard seeds
  • 1 Teel. peppercorns
  • 3 Bay leaves
  • 2 Chilis
  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 stalk of leeks

Directions

    Rinse the maties with water, cut the onion and leek into rind, cut the carrots into slices. Boil up vinegar with water and all spices, let cool down. Put the maties and vegetables in a bowl.

    Pour over the brew and place in the fridge overnight, serving with fried potatoes.
