Mix the diced apples with cinnamon, sugar, rum and the ground nuts and let it soak through a little.
Cream the fat, add the grated lemon peel and eggs. Mix the flour with baking powder, pass through a sieve and stir in alternately with the lukewarm milk.
Carefully fold the apple-nut mixture into the dough. Bake the waffles in portions in a greased waffle iron.
Sprinkle the finished wafers with sugar and cinnamon.
