For the asparagus, boil a little salted water in a wide pot. Wash the green asparagus and cut off the woody ends generously. Cook the asparagus in salted water for about 5 minutes. Grate the cheese roughly.
Preheat oven (electric cooker: 225 °C/circulating air: 200 °C/gas: see manufacturer). Place asparagus on a greased baking tray.
Season with pepper and sprinkle with grated Gouda. Spread 100 g butter in pieces on top. Bake in a hot oven for about 10 minutes.
