Ingredients

  • 6 Eggs (size M)
  • 150 g soft butter or margarine
  • 225 g Sugar
  • 300 g Flour
  • 1 pack of Baking Powder
  • 5 TABLESPOONS Ginger Ale (ginger lemonade)
  • 500 g Chili chocolate fine tart (49 % cocoa)
  • 300 g Whipped cream
  • 1 TEASPOON Cocoa powder
  • 7-10 Tbsp possibly pomegranate seeds
  • 7-10 Tbsp Fat and flour

Directions

    Separate eggs. Mix soft fat and sugar for 10 minutes with the whisk of the hand mixer until thick and creamy. Stir in the egg yolks one by one. Mix flour and baking powder. Alternately stir in with the ginger ale. Beat egg whites and 1 pinch of salt until stiff and fold into the dough in 2 portions.

    Fill the dough into a greased star-shaped mould (2 litres capacity), dust with flour and smooth it down. Bake in the preheated oven (electric cooker: 175 °C/ convection oven: 150 °C/ gas: level 2) for 55-60 minutes. Remove the cake from the oven, place on a cake rack and let it rest for 10 minutes. Turn the cake out of the tin and let it cool down. Cut the star in half horizontally. Coarsely chop 300 g chilli chocolate and melt on a warm water bath. Leave to cool slightly. Whip the cream until stiff. Gradually fold into the chocolate. Spread the chocolate cream cloudily on the bottom of the star. Chill for 15 minutes.

Spread the chocolate cream cloudily on the bottom of the star. Chill for 15 minutes. Place the lid on top and press down gently. Coarsely chop 200 g chilli chocolate and melt. Cover the star with melted chocolate. Let it dry. Dust the star with cocoa and decorate with pomegranate seeds if desired
