Ingredients

Servings: 1
  • 1 Chicory (about 250 g)
  • 1 (approx. 100 g) big tomato
  • 1 small clove of garlic
  • 1 (40 g) thin slice of cooked ham
  • 1/2 tsp (3 g) Oil
  • 7-10 Tbsp salt, white pepper
  • 7-10 Tbsp creeping thyme
  • 7-10 Tbsp Juice of 1/2 orange
  • 7-10 Tbsp untreated orange slices
  • 1 disc (50 g) Wholemeal bread

Directions

  1. 1

Clean and wash the chicory. Halve lengthwise and cut out the stalk in a wedge shape. Wash and finely dice the tomato. Peel garlic, cut into thin slices and ham into strips

  2. 2

Heat the oil in a coated pan. Fry the chicory halves for 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper

  3. 3

Fry the garlic, ham and tomato briefly. Add thyme, orange juice and 3 tablespoons of water. Bring everything to the boil, cover and stew for about 5 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve and garnish with orange slices if necessary. Eat bread with it

  4. 4

Chicory is a wholesome winter vegetable that is prepared in no time at all. 100 g provide only 16 calories, but lots of carotene and folic acid. Chicory contains intybin, which causes the typical slightly bitter taste and stimulates digestion
