Baked Apple Spelt Crumble

Ingredients

  • 125 g + some soft butter
  • 80 g sugar (e.g. browner)
  • 7-10 Tbsp Salt
  • 1 package Bourbon vanilla sugar
  • 150 g Wholemeal spelt flour
  • 50 g fine spelt grain
  • 8 small apples or 4 medium sized apples (approx. 200 g each)
  • 7-10 Tbsp juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 2-3 TABLESPOONS flaked almonds
  • 7-10 Tbsp Icing sugar

Directions

    Mix 125 g butter, sugar, 1 pinch of salt, vanilla sugar, spelt flour and grist with the dough hooks of the hand mixer into crumbles. Cover and chill for approx. 15 minutes

    Wash apples, dry them. Cut out the cores (cut large apples in half). Sprinkle apples with lemon juice

    Lightly grease the casserole dish. Spread half of the crumble in it. Put the apples inside. Sprinkle the rest of the crumbles over it. Bake in the preheated oven (electric cooker: 175 °C/ convection oven: 150 °C/ gas: level 2) for approx. 25 minutes. Sprinkle almonds over the top about 10 minutes before the end of the baking time. Dust crumble with icing sugar. Delicious with vanilla sauce
