Swiss cheese and bread casserole

Ingredients

Servings: 4
  • 1 Vegetable onion (approx. 400 g)
  • 2 (approx. 350 g) Pork or turkey escalope
  • 1 TABLESPOON oil, salt, white pepper
  • 7-10 Tbsp Rose pepper, nutmeg
  • 200 g Whipped cream
  • 1/2 TEASPOON clear broth (instant)
  • 1 tablespoon (10 g) Cornstarch
  • 7-10 Tbsp Grease
  • 6 discs (30 g each) White bread
  • 6 discs Hard cheese (e.g. Appenzeller)
  • 1/4 l milk, 2 eggs (Gr. M)

Directions

    Peel and chop the onion. Wash the meat if necessary, dab dry and cut into fine strips

    Fry the meat all around in hot oil. Season with salt and pepper and remove. Sauté onion in frying fat. Dust with paprika. Pour on 100 ml water and cream, up to 5 tablespoons, add stock. Bring to the boil and simmer for about 5 minutes. Add meat. Stir starch and 2 tablespoons of water until smooth, thicken shredded meat. Season with salt and pepper and fill into a greased casserole dish

    Cover the breads with cheese and lay them like roof tiles on the shredded bread. Whisk milk, 5 tablespoons of cream and eggs. Season with salt and nutmeg

    Pour egg milk over the bread. Bake in the preheated oven (electric cooker: 200 °C / convection oven: 175 °C / gas: level 3) for 35-45 minutes until golden brown
